A Vision Born in the Mountains

Back in 1987, Alexander Ravenor stood on this very spot with nothing but wilderness around him and a dream that seemed a bit crazy to most folks. He'd spent years traveling through the Swiss Alps, the Rockies, and beyond - always searching for that perfect blend of raw nature and refined comfort.

What he built here wasn't just another hotel. It became a sanctuary where you could wake up to mountain peaks through floor-to-ceiling windows, then head down for breakfast that'd rival any Michelin-starred spot in Vancouver.

The Quinthal Philosophy

We've always believed that luxury doesn't have to be stuffy or pretentious. It's about feeling completely at ease while being surrounded by beauty - both natural and crafted.

Alexander's daughter, Claire, took over in 2009 and she's kept that spirit alive while adding her own touch. She spent a decade working at some of Europe's finest resorts, but she always knew she'd come back here. This place has a way of calling you home.

What Makes Us Different

Built With the Land, Not Against It

When Alexander first designed this place, he worked with environmental architects to make sure we weren't just plunking a hotel down on pristine land. Every building, every pathway was planned to work with the natural landscape.

We use geothermal heating, solar panels on the back buildings (yeah, we kept them out of sight so they don't mess with your views), and we've partnered with local conservation groups to protect the surrounding wilderness.

It's not about being perfect - it's about doing better each year and respecting the incredible environment that makes this location so special.
